In view of the industry's eventual goal of a paperless transaction system and given that the settlement period for trading has already been reduced to three days in certain cases, the argument in favour of nominee accounts grows stronger by the day.

Under our advisory nominee service, the final word on investment decisions rests with the client - although we are always on hand to offer advice and guidance. However, while most clients are content to handle the day to day administration of their investments we have found that, for a variety of reasons, some clients wish to be relieved of this responsibility. Accordingly we offer a system whereby we hold a client's portfolio in our Nominee, with an individual designation, where all correspondence in connection with the holding is directed to us and we are responsible for the collection of dividends and attending to corporate actions. As part of this service a deposit account is opened which pays a competitive rate of interest for the benefit of the client which accrues interest on a quarterly basis. We also provide the necessary information on an annual basis for the tax return to be made.
