Cunningham Coates is proud to announce that Wayne Nickels, one of our Investment Advisors and a Captain in the TA, will be leading his men in an upcoming tour of duty in Afghanistan. Wayne is taking a year’s sabbatical having been called up for training followed by a six-month spell on active service.

While an apparently remote conflict, we feel that army personnel should be congratulated and supported for putting their health, comfort and indeed, lives, on the line on our behalf. Notwithstanding the potential disruption to the service provided for them, the news has been received positively by clients with many sending in letters of “good luck” etc. – including one who has asked Wayne to visit him to receive a penny which his grandfather had carried through the First World War, and his father through the Second World War – both coming home safe and sound. We all hope it proves equally as lucky for Wayne.

On a different note, we are also delighted to announce that Wayne has been promoted to Associate Director. Whilst this was obviously not linked to his tour in any way, we do feel that it reflects his leadership qualities and character.
